God’s Grace is for Everybody

Luke 17:16 says, “He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done.  This man was a Samaritan.”

This verse comes from the story of Jesus healing ten men with leprosy.  Only one of the ten came back to say thanks, and he was a Samaritan.

Samaritans were despised by Jews because they were considered an idolatrous half-breed. When Israel was exiled by Assyria, Jews from the northern kingdom intermarried with people from this foreign nation, who then introduced false gods to the Israelite population.  As a result, there was tension between Jews and Samaritans.

The fact that this leper was a Samaritan is a reminder to us that God’s grace is for everybody!  Aren’t you grateful for God’s grace in your life?
