300 and 30

God did something out of the ordinary at New Church last Sunday!  Three weeks ago I announced to our church that on February 23rd, I began praying a specific prayer in relation to what I believed God wanted to do through New Church, on Easter, for his glory.

That specific prayer was that God would allow us to have 300 people in attendance, and that he would allow us to see 30 people place their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Some people I talked to about it doubted that it would happen because our church is less than four months old, and we have been averaging a little over 100 people in attendance each week.  But for the most part, I think the people in our church believed it was possible. (See Matthew 19:26)

I asked our church to do three things leading up to Easter: Believe, Pray, and Invite, and they did an amazing job at all of those things.  I’m humbled to say that we didn’t reach our goal of 300 people, but I’m honored to say that God did more than we could ever imagine by allowing us to see 34 people put their faith in Jesus for salvation! (See Ephesians 3:20)

I’m so proud of our Volunteer Leaders for creating environments that are welcoming to our guests and for sacrificing their time each week to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

God was honored at New Church on Sunday, and Jesus was lifted up!  That’s why we were  able “…to help people far from God experience new life in Jesus Christ!”
