This Sunday at New Church will be a special time as we gather together to participate in our first ever communion worship experience.

I will be teaching what our church believes about communion as I answer a few frequently asked questions related to this ordinance—questions like: What’s the purpose of communion?  Who should participate in communion?  How should we approach communion?

So, if you are in the Winston-Salem area this weekend, we would be honored to have you as our guest at New Church for this unique worship experience.

Portrait of Commitment

Last Sunday at New Church, we ended our Family Portrait series with a bang, or more literally, a plunge!  We had our first ever baptism party, and 10 people took the next step in their journey of faith as they identified with Jesus through baptism.

We looked at the story of a family in Scripture that made a commitment and took a next step.  You can click HERE to read the story, and you can click HERE to listen to last Sunday’s message.

I’ll be sending out our monthly newsletter next week with pictures and video of the baptism party!  To automatically receive our monthly newsletter, click HERE!

Thanks for your continued prayers and support of what God has called us to do through New Church for his glory!

300 and 30

April 26, 2011 Leave a comment

God did something out of the ordinary at New Church last Sunday!  Three weeks ago I announced to our church that on February 23rd, I began praying a specific prayer in relation to what I believed God wanted to do through New Church, on Easter, for his glory.

That specific prayer was that God would allow us to have 300 people in attendance, and that he would allow us to see 30 people place their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Some people I talked to about it doubted that it would happen because our church is less than four months old, and we have been averaging a little over 100 people in attendance each week.  But for the most part, I think the people in our church believed it was possible. (See Matthew 19:26)

I asked our church to do three things leading up to Easter: Believe, Pray, and Invite, and they did an amazing job at all of those things.  I’m humbled to say that we didn’t reach our goal of 300 people, but I’m honored to say that God did more than we could ever imagine by allowing us to see 34 people put their faith in Jesus for salvation! (See Ephesians 3:20)

I’m so proud of our Volunteer Leaders for creating environments that are welcoming to our guests and for sacrificing their time each week to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

God was honored at New Church on Sunday, and Jesus was lifted up!  That’s why we were  able “…to help people far from God experience new life in Jesus Christ!”

THE STORY

April 22, 2011 1 comment

Easter Sunday at New Church, we will take a look at a story that changed the course of history and has the potential to change your life too!  It’s a story of hope, freedom, and overcoming the most overwhelming of obstacles.

If you live in the Winston-Salem area, we would like to invite you to our Easter worship experience.  We meet on Sunday mornings at 10 AM at the Robinhood Rd. Family YMCA.

You’ll find that New Church has friendly people, excellent children’s environments, edgy music, and practical teaching.  If you are looking for a church to attend Easter Sunday, we would love for you to be our guest at New Church!

Thanksserving

Yesterday the New Church Launch Team worshiped Jesus through serving our community!  We’ve been working with a couple of schools in the area whose social workers are helping us identify families that have needs.  By investing in these families, we are able to live out our core values and provide for them tangible reminders of the love Jesus has for them.

We divided our team into four groups, and each group delivered complete Thanksgiving meals, including turkeys and all the fixin’s, to families that might not otherwise have a nice Thanksgiving dinner.  We were also able to pray with each family and tell them how much Jesus loves them!

Below are some pictures of the new friends my family met as a result of this community outreach project.

Thank you to those who are investing financially in the ministry of New Church!  Your generosity is making a difference in the lives of the people of Winston-Salem for the cause of Jesus Christ!
