September 25th Baptism Party

October 10, 2011 Leave a comment

On September 25th, New Church had its 2nd Baptism Party, and a group of people who were ready to take this important next step in their journey of faith identified with Jesus by taking the plunge.

Since our launch on January 9, 2011, we’ve seen 70 people place their faith in Jesus for salvation and have been able to baptize 18 people!  All of the glory goes to God for what he’s doing in, and through, our church!

This time around, I had the privilege of baptizing Rob, Kevin, Sallie, Jessica, Sarah, Jarrett, Jason, and Steven.  Check out the video below:

NC Ink, Wk. 1: Marked to Make a Difference

October 5, 2011 Leave a comment

The first week of our new teaching series, NC Ink, was one for the books.  Not only did we talk about what the Bible says about tattoos, but we did it twice!  Last Sunday was the first week we began offering 2 identical worship experiences (9:00 AM and 10:30 AM), and it was amazing!

In fact, we had the 2nd highest attendance in the history of New Church last Sunday, but more importantly, 4 people indicated that they placed their faith in Jesus for salvation!  In less than 9 months of existence, our church has seen 70 people cross the line of faith!  All glory goes to God!

If you live in the Winston-Salem area, we would be honored to have you as our guest during this teaching series as we talk about how we have been Marked to Make a Difference!  Click HERE if you would like to listen to and/or download last Sunday’s message.

NC Ink

September 30, 2011 Leave a comment

This coming Sunday, we’re launching a brand new teaching series at New Church called “NC Ink.”  As a way to emphasize the fact that we have been Marked to Make a Difference, we will be providing opportunities for people to win gift certificates for tattoos—real tattoos.

I understand that some people don’t approve of the methods we use to reach people far from God, but my prayer is that as a result of this teaching series, we will have opportunities to help those who wouldn’t normally step foot in a church.

In addition to launching this new series, we are also adding a 2nd worship experience.  Instead of meeting at 10:00 AM, we will provide 2 identical worship experiences, one at 9:00 AM and the other at 10:30 AM.  Check out the teaser video for NC Ink below, and we would be honored to have you as our guest at New Church on Sunday!

We closed out our Better Together series last Sunday at New Church by having another Baptism Party!  I had the privilege of baptizing Rob, Sarah, Jarrett, Steven, Jason, Kevin, Sallie, and Jessica!

If that wasn’t enough, we also saw 3 more people indicate that they placed their faith in Jesus for salvation!

We give God all of the credit for what he is doing in, and through, New Church for his glory!  You can click HERE to listen to last week’s message.

Better Together Wk. 2: Logistically Speaking

September 20, 2011 Leave a comment

We experienced another “first ever” at New Church on Sunday.  During Wk. 2 of our current series, Better Together, our goal was to give people an idea of what they can expect when they attend New Church Groups and to discuss some things that are necessary for being Better Together.

I decided the best way to communicate this information would be to have our Groups Director, Samantha Paulk, join me on stage for part of my message, during which time I asked her some questions related to New Church Groups.

We had never conducted an interview as part of a message before, but it seemed to go over well.  See what you think by clicking HERE to listen to and/or download the message.

Groups…get connected

September 16, 2011 Leave a comment

The first week in October, people from New Church will begin gathering around the Winston-Salem area to hang out, study God’s Word together, and learn to care for each other.  We call these opportunities for growth New Church Groups.

For more information about Groups, or to register online, click HERE, and you will be taken to the Groups page.  If you consider New Church to be your church home, I cannot emphasize enough how CRUCIAL it is for you to get connected through Groups. I truly believe that we’re Better Together!

Volunteer Leader of the Week: Daniel Paulk

September 15, 2011 Leave a comment

Meet Daniel Paulk, our most recent Volunteer Leader of the Week.  Daniel works as an engineer on the weekdays and volunteers on our Host Team on Sundays.  Daniel is married to Samantha, our Groups Director, and together they lead a New Church Group.

I asked Daniel a couple of simple questions about New Church and volunteering.  Here’s what he had to say:

Why New Church?

Samantha and I chose New Church because we were looking for something non-traditional, that we as young adults could fit into and be a part of. We church shopped for a long time, before going to the launch service at New Church, but never found anything that we wanted to be a part of. Once we visited and found out that the core values of the church were in line with our beliefs, we knew right away that we had found the right church for us.

Why Volunteer?

After the first couple of times visiting, I knew that the YMCA where we meet opened at noon, and there was something of a time crunch to get everything put away after church before the Y opened. So I offered to help by putting up chairs and that led to other things, and as I got more comfortable with everyone, I got plugged into more and more things because it felt natural. Simply put, I saw a need and wanted to be able to help.

Thank you for stepping up to meet that need, and other needs since then, Daniel.  I appreciate all that you and Samantha are doing to help us accomplish our vision “…to help people far from God experience new life in Jesus Christ!”  It’s an honor to serve along side you each week!
